studio: Golden Belt Studios 807 East Main Street suite 3-125 Durham, NC 27701 |
Arts Background: I attended Northwest School of the Arts in grades 7 - 12, and then went on to receive my BA in Studio Art with a concentration in painting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have been a commissioned artist for 10 years, and a dedicated painter for 8 years. In addition to doing my own original artworks I am currently working as an artist assistant for Durham-based artist and UNC professor, Juan Logan, and as a muralist in private homes in the Triangle area. I live in Durham, NC, with my husband, David, and our malamute/husky mix, Toby.
Awards and achievements:
Personal Background: My family resides mostly in Florida, but I come from a military family so I have relatives all over the country. I was born in San Diego in 1983, though I grew up moving from naval base to naval base until my mother retired from active duty and we settled in Charlotte, NC in 1990. I had the great oppotunity to go to an arts magnet school directly out of elementary school and I owe so much to the talented and dedicated teachers I was privileged to learn under at Northwest School ofthe Arts in Charlotte. I went from there to UNC Chapel Hill and had a great time, and probably learned some things, as well... I met my husband when I was an undergrad in the arts program and he was a teaching fellow majoring in history. As soon as we graduated, we got married in March, 2005.
